Communication between North and South Korea was restored

The communication channels between North and South Korea, which were closed last year, have been reopened.

Axar.az reports that the statement came from the South Korean President's Office.

The statement said that the official lines of communication between the two countries have been activated and it is hoped that bilateral relations will be restored as soon as possible.

North Korea's state news agency also confirmed South Korea's official statement.

Last year, the North Korean government decided to close its communication channels with South Korea after failing to take action against South Korean activists sending protests by sea to the North Korean border.
