Turkish troops will protect Kabul airport

The Afghan government will provide real security at Kabul airport, while a small group of Turkish soldiers will protect Turkish air transport, communications and fire safety specialists working at the airport.

Axar.az reports that the statement came from Afghan Foreign Minister Mohammad Hanif Atmar.

"Let's clarify. The Turkish government does not intend to secure the airport in Kabul. They provide important services such as air transport, communications, fire safety. The soldiers will protect them. But the real security inside and outside the airport will be provided by the Afghan government." said the minister.
