Armenia is a leader in the region in terms of coronavirus deaths.

Axar.az reports that the statement came from Ter-Stepanyan, associate professor of the epidemiology department of Yerevan State Medical University.

According to him, the reason for this is the widespread use of the delta option in the country:

"The situation is quite difficult for pregnant women," she said. The number of pregnant women infected with the virus is high. Until May, pregnant women were not at risk. However, the situation has changed with the spread of the delta strain.

Another epidemiologist, Arman Badalyan, said the rapid rise in infections and overcrowding in hospitals was dangerous.

It should be noted that the number of infections in Armenia has exceeded 2,000 over the past day.
