Catholic church called to release Saakashvili

Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili's health worries Giuseppe Pazotto, head of the Roman Catholic Church's mission in the Caucasus.

Axar.az reports the information was spread on the church's Facebook page.

The head of the mission called on the Georgian authorities to abandon the legal aspects and save Saakashvili's life.

The organization also called for special care for Saakashvili, given his historical role in the fate of Georgia.

Earlier, the head of the Georgian Orthodox Church, Elijah II, twice called on Saakashvili to end the hunger strike, but he refused.
