Turkey refused to buy gas from Iran

Tehran officials have acknowledged that Turkey has not received gas from Iran.

Axar.az reports that the chairman of the Energy Commission of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce said:

"Wrong energy policy and failure to reduce domestic gas consumption have deprived Iran of the opportunity to become an energy hub in the region."

Hamid Reza Salehi also said: “In recent years, Turkey has signed an agreement to diversify gas supplies and purchase Iranian gas in this area solely to depend on Russia, the price of which is higher than the price of gas in a country like Turkmenistan. But Turkey also buys Turkmen gas through Azerbaijan and thus did not renew the gas purchase agreement from Iran."
