Axar.az reports that the statement came from Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Faruk Kaymakci.

"Without membership, we cannot establish a sincere, reliable and mutually beneficial relationship with the European Union. Today, the European Union has come to decision-making, managerial position on the old continent. In other words, in order for Turkey to be able to defend its interests and sovereignty well, it must be within this governing mechanism. There is no other option. The values that Turkey will bring to Europe with EU membership are extremely important," Kaymakci said.
