Netflix hikes prices in the US and Canada

Netflix informed on Friday that it is increasing the prices for video streaming customers in the US and Canada.

The company reported that prices are set to rise between $1 and $2, depending on the plan. The "standard" plan, which is the most widely used, is going up $1.50 to $15.50, while the 4K plan will grow to $20 per month from $18. The basic plan, which doesn't include HD, rises to $10 per month from $9. The Canadian version is also increasing its prices, excluding the basic plan.

"We're updating our prices so that we can continue to offer a wide variety of quality entertainment options," a Netflix representative said in a statement. The new prices will be effective as of Friday.
