Axar.az reports that the statement came from American expert Michael Doran during a speech at a panel on "History and Future of Turkish-US Relations" in New York.

"In my appeal to the Pentagon, I said that we have left our strongest ally in Syria alone and that Turkey will stay in the region and fight the PKK. It was a loss in the long run. Today, more and more people understand that relations with the PKK are a strategic mistake, although they do not want to admit it. Now there is a real opportunity to rethink everything from beginning to end," said the expert.
