Chinese authorities are ready to strengthen strategic cooperation with Russia against the backdrop of rising tensions in the Taiwan Strait.

Axar.az reports that Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said this during his meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov.

"Russia has always adhered to the principle of One China and has opposed all kinds of encroachment on the sovereignty of our country. China is ready to strengthen strategic cooperation with Russia. Together, we can more effectively defend the international system in which the UN plays a key role, as well as the order based on generally accepted international legal norms," he stressed.
