This is the reason for our application for NATO membership

The main factor that prompted Finland to apply to NATO was the nuclear threats from Russia after the war.

Axar.az reports that this was said by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland, Pekka Haavisto.

According to him, with the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, the real security situation in Europe has changed

"With this in mind, Finland had to think about how to respond and where to get support if there was a threat of using nuclear or chemical weapons. This was the main factor in the decision to join the alliance."
