There is a food crisis in Great Britain.
Axar.az reports that the British National Farmers' Union (NFU) has warned that a food crisis has arisen in the country due to supply problems and called on the government to intervene in the situation. It was pointed out that productivity in many areas has fallen to the lowest level since 1985 and supply problems will complicate the situation.
Some supermarkets in the UK have imposed quotas on the sale of eggs that farmers have stopped producing due to rising costs. The situation has worsened with the recent bird flu outbreak.
According to the union, farmers are under pressure from rising fuel, fertilizer and feed prices. This crisis may affect more types of products. The war in Ukraine and the coronavirus pandemic have had a negative impact on both consumers and businesses, increasing food, energy and fuel prices last year.
According to official figures, market prices in Britain are experiencing the fastest growth in the last 45 years. The price of basic food products such as milk, cheese and eggs continues to rise.
