111-year-old warship can help Russia recover the US UAV

The Russian military can use the Kommuna naval rescue ship to participate in the search and rescue of the US MQ-9 Reaper UAV in the Black Sea.

Axar.az reports citing foreign media that on the morning of March 14 local time, a US military MQ-9 Reaper unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) crashed into the Black Sea after colliding with a Russian SU-27 fighter jet.

The US Navy then dispatched a number of warships and fighters to search for the “Evil Bird” UAV. According to White House spokesman John Kirby, this was not an easy task because of the depth to which the US UAV fell.

“It hasn’t been salvaged yet. I’m not sure we’ll be able to recover this drone. It fell into a very, very deep water in the Black Sea. We are still considering options to recover the machine. this flight. However, the optimal option may not exist. We are currently doing our best to prevent intelligence from getting out,” Mr. Kirby said on March 15.

The Russian military is also planning to salvage the US drone. On March 16, an unnamed US official told the media that Russia had recovered some pieces of the Reaper UAV’s hull.

According to experts, Russia’s Black Sea Fleet owns a special warship with the ability to search and recover US UAVs. The warship mentioned here is the naval rescue ship Kommuna.
