Russia hopes that Azerbaijan will soon join the Russian-Iranian agreements on the creation of the "North-South" transport corridor.

Axar.az reports that Russian President Vladimir Putin said this at the plenary session of the Second Eurasian Economic Forum.

"This agreement will allow connecting Russian ports in the Baltic and North seas with Iranian ports on the coasts of the Persian Gulf and the Indian Ocean. The construction of the new line will start this year," Putin said.
