The idea of ​​uniting Moldova with Romania does not have special support among the citizens of the republic.

Axar.az reports that these words were said by the President of Moldova, Maya Sandu.

"There are people who promote this idea, but they are not enough. There is support for EU integration and we strive for it. About one million citizens of Moldova have Romanian passports. But many are afraid of the possible unification of the two countries," said Sandu.

According to polls, about 60% of Moldovan citizens and about 55% of Romanian residents oppose the unification of the two countries.
