During the last day, the Ukrainian army carried out counter-offensive operations in at least three sectors of the front.

Axar.az reports that the US Institute for the Study of War has released information about this.

According to information, Ukraine continues operations in at least three sectors of the front as part of the ongoing counter-offensive starting June 4 with varying results:

"Ukrainian troops attacked from the defence in the direction of Bakhmut and advanced from 200 meters to two kilometres on the flanks of the city. On the night of June 7-8, a limited but still significant attack was carried out in the west of the Zaporizhzhia region.

The Russian forces doctrinally defended themselves from this attack and restored their initial positions on June 8. "On June 8, the Ukrainian military also lost the military vehicles provided by the West."

The Russian Defence Ministry responded to Ukraine's attack with uncharacteristic coordination. The Ministry praised the units of the Southern Military District for their activity in repelling the attack and restoring the lost positions.

It is noted that Ukraine has created 12 special counter-attack brigades:

"Ukraine has activated only a part of the pool of large forces available for counter-offensive operations. The Kyiv counteroffensive will likely consist of events of various sizes. More local attacks will be preferred."
