The polling companies said that we would win the election, and we believed that we would win. I don't think seeing the emerging picture as a heavy defeat is right. To put it in front of society as a heavy defeat will lead society to despair.
Axar.az reports that RPP Chairman Kemal Kılıchdaroghlu said these words in his first extensive statement after the defeat in the second round of the presidential elections held on May 28.
Kılıchdaroghlu also sent a message to Ekrem İmamoghlu, the mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, who called for change:
"Istanbul should be managed by an RPP member. Why should we give the municipality we won to another party? I am not saying that there is no candidate (for RPP chairmanship - ed.), but Istanbul is important. He can be a candidate."
It should be noted that Ekrem Imamoghlu is considered the luckiest candidate for the chairmanship of the RPP Congress.
