There is no alternative for Russian peacekeepers in Karabakh today.
Axar.az reports that the Russian ambassador to Armenia, Sergey Kopyrkin, said these words in an interview with the Armenian media.
He said that Russian peacekeepers are fulfilling their duties despite the criticism.
"We are talking about ensuring security, creating conditions for the life of Armenian residents in Karabakh, and preventing large-scale escalation. This role is implemented. And I don't see any other force to replace this role in Karabakh."
Kopyrkin noted that if we are talking about the future, then the consent of all parties is necessary for the deployment of some forces:
"Furthermore, taking into account the current experience, one should not get euphoric about the peacekeeping capabilities of various international and other structures. In particular, there is the experience of Ukraine and Yugoslavia."
