The issue of Taiwan remains an insurmountable red line in relations between the United States and China.

Axar.az reports that Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said this during the talks held in Malta with the US President's National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan.

"The Taiwan issue is a major red line that cannot be crossed in the relationship between China and the United States. The United States must adhere to the three joint Sino-American communiques and fulfill its commitment not to support Taiwan's independence," Wang Yi said.

According to him, China's development follows an inevitable historical logic:

"For this reason, it cannot be stopped and the Chinese people cannot be deprived of their right to legitimate development."
