The EU has decided to suspend negotiations with Ukraine on membership of the union until the elections to the European Parliament, which will be held from June 6 to 9.
Axar.az reports that this was said by the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
"We are still working on the framework of the negotiations. According to my estimates, the negotiating program will be ready after the election, not before the European election. Because it can take time due to the development of different negotiating positions. But I believe that we will be ready in the summer, at the beginning of the summer," he said.
It should be noted that "Politico" quoted anonymous diplomats and officials as saying that some EU countries are worried about the start of negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the union on the eve of the European Parliament elections.
