At the beginning of the Ukrainian war, the most mobile and combat-ready units of the airborne troops of the Russian armed forces were deployed in the direction of Kyiv.
Axar.az reports that Alexander Pavlyuk, the lieutenant general of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the commander of the Ground Forces, said this.
According to him, these soldiers had clear plans to capture important objects and move quickly:
"They encountered unexpected, professional resistance and all their progress was halted, so they had to quickly change their plans. If this had not happened, the plan of a quick attack, a rapid advance into the administrative zone of Kyiv, capturing government buildings, raising the Russian flag and parading in Kyiv would have been realized. They had such plans, and believe me, they would have come true if not for our resistance."
