The US military is withdrawing from this country

The US has agreed to withdraw its troops from Niger.

Axar.az reports that an official source in the State Department confirmed this information to CBS News.

It was noted that there are about 1000 American soldiers in Niger. Agadez is home to a large US airbase that is used for surveillance flights and other operations.

The US has also spent hundreds of millions of dollars training Niger's military since operations began in the country in 2013. However, relations between Niger and Western countries worsened after soldiers revolted against the country's president last July.
