A sharp response to France's accusations about the Ottomans

In its decision on Assyrians and Chaldeans dated April 29, 2024, the French National Assembly made legal and historical accusations about the Ottoman period.

Axar.az reports that this was stated in the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkiye.

"Bringing the same groundless accusations to the assembly by the ruling party deputies this time is an example of an attempt to distort history for political interests. Parliaments have no authority to interpret and judge history.

This decision also contradicts the 1948 UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, which stipulates that the crime of genocide can only be prosecuted by a competent court," the statement said.
