Russian cake at Macron and Jinping's dinner

Due to its name, "Russian cake" was removed from the dinner menu of French President Emmanuel Macron and Chinese leader Xi Jinping.

Axar.az reports that the "La Depeche" publication wrote about this.

"A few weeks ago, I proposed a menu to the Elysée Palace," Eric Abadi, the owner of the restaurant "L'Etape du Berger" where Macron and Jinping dined, told the publication.

The newspaper writes that the lunch menu of the leaders consisted of Pyrenees cuisine, including blueberry pie:

"Nevertheless, first the heads of state should be given the "Russian cake" that Macron and his wife Brigitte love so much. The recipe for this dessert originated in the Bern region of southern France in the 1920s. That's why it was called "Russian cake" because almonds were brought from Crimea at that time for the cookies from which the cake was made. In addition, this dessert is reminiscent of the "snow-covered plains of Russia." Due to the geopolitical context, they decided to remove dessert from the menu."
