Growing Islamophobia, xenophobia, and racism on the European continent is one of the biggest sources of concern for the representatives of our people and migrants living there. In Europe, discrimination and hate crimes against the Turkish community are becoming commonplace day by day.

Axar.az reports that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said this in his message on the occasion of Europe Day.

"As the crises, conflicts, and wars affecting Europe and our common geography remain unresolved, doubts about these values will continue to grow. In the current geopolitical situation, it has become more important than ever for the future of our continent that the European Union (EU) conducts a comprehensive, cooperative, and equal policy in the vast European geography and the Mediterranean basin.

At this critical moment, when the enlargement policy is intensifying, it is high time to develop cooperation in all fields, including the membership negotiations, which are the basis of the relations between Turkiye and the EU, and place them on a firmer foundation, Erdogan said.

"It is of vital importance that the EU continues its relations with our country with a fair and result-oriented approach within the framework of the principle of commitment, and refrains from policies and statements that bring our relations to a dead end. Turkiye will not hesitate to use its strategic opportunities and capabilities, as well as to develop them, in the face of the alienation policy applied against our country, which hurts the status of a global power of the EU. I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that Turkiye is ready to work together for a more prosperous, more united, more open European table where our country takes its rightful place in the future. With these thoughts, I congratulate all Europeans, especially citizens of Turkiye, on the occasion of May 9 - Europe Day."
