The plane carrying Malawi's Vice President Saulos Chilima may crash.
Axar.az informs that this version was put forward by Malawi's "Nyasa Times" newspaper with reference to witness statements.
There are serious concerns about the death of the vice president. He was on his way to the funeral of lawyer Ralph Kasambar, but due to bad weather, his plane was unable to land at the airport and flew back. Dispatchers could not establish contact with the plane. Currently, search and rescue operations are ongoing.
So far, all that is known for sure is that Chilima flew from the capital's Lilongwe Airport to Mzuzi Airport in the north of the country and disappeared on the way back.
The newspaper wrote that it is not yet clear whether it was a plane or a helicopter. The number of people on board, according to various sources, is 9 or 10 people.
The Presidential Administration has only confirmed the disappearance of the plane and the cancellation of President Lazarus Chakwera's planned visit to the Bahamas and Switzerland.
