The head of the European Council, Charles Michel, wants to prevent the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, from participating in the meeting where the EU leaders will discuss the distribution of the main tasks in the leadership of the union.

Axar.az reports that "Politico" published information about this with reference to European diplomats, officials and seven sources among the government representatives of EU countries.

"During negotiations with Union leaders and their assistants, Michel proposed not to invite Leyen to the meeting on June 17, where the heads of state and government will discuss the highest positions in the EU," the report said.

It is noted that some EU countries opposed Michel's proposal.
