There is a possibility of signing a peace treaty between Yerevan and Baku, because Russia is currently in trouble, and maybe it won't be in such trouble in a year. So there is a window of opportunity. We are working on it now.

Axar.az reports that US Deputy Secretary of State James O'Brien said these words in an interview with the Armenian service of "Azadlig" radio.

"Russia wants to say that after winning Ukraine, it will return to the Caucasus, but Russia will not win Ukraine and return to the Caucasus - although it has been here for a long time.

Now it's time for the citizens of Armenia to say: "We have come to a decision and we want to go forward, not back." Now there is an opportunity to move forward, because Russia is stuck in Ukraine."

According to him, the USA has declared that it will raise relations with Armenia to the level of strategic partnership. He explained that this means working with Armenia to strengthen democracy, security, such as police and border troops, and economic diversification:

"Armenia should be able to conduct global trade and not be dependent on Russia as it is now. These are some of the areas we will continue to work on. We have fruitful and constructive relations with Azerbaijan in many ways and we will work with both sides. We will be very happy to provide financial assistance and cooperation with companies to come here to take advantage of the opportunities of a peaceful region after the peace agreement. We are ready to work with Armenia and Azerbaijan in all ways that partners help each other. "Georgia and Armenia are interested in being closer to the European Union and the single market, and I believe that such integration is possible only after the signing of an agreement between Yerevan and Baku."

Obryen once again expressed his support for the Zangezur corridor with these words:

"This document will provide an opportunity to have a trade route from Kazakhstan to Turkiye, reaching the Mediterranean Sea or the Black Sea. This route will complete the already existing route, passing through the territory of Azerbaijan and extending to Georgia and the Black Sea. Together, these two routes will give Central Asian countries access to the world market regardless of Russia or China. We strongly support this possibility."

It should be noted that James O'Brien arrived in Yerevan on June 10. The trip will end on June 12.
