The second round of elections has started in France

The second round of elections to the French Parliament has begun.

Axar.az reports that polling stations in the country were opened at 08:00 local time (10:00 Baku time).

Although the voting process should end at 18:00 in most polling stations, polling stations in major cities, including Paris, will be open until 20:00.

The first results of the elections are expected to be announced after 20:00 local time.

It should be noted that in the first round of parliamentary elections held on June 30, 76 out of 577 parliamentarians were elected. 37 of those deputies are members of the radical right-oriented National Unity Party and its allies.

289 seats are needed to achieve an absolute majority in the lower house of parliament. The main fight will be between the National Unity Party, the left-wing New Popular Front coalition and President Emmanuel Macron's coalition.

In the first round of parliamentary elections, the National Unity Party and its allies won 33.4%, the left-wing "New People's Front" coalition won 27.98%, and President Emmanuel Macron's coalition won 20.76%.
