The second round of parliamentary elections in France has ended. This round was also marked by a great voter turnout. Although it is not yet possible to say something concrete about the results, in the end three blocks came forward. This shows that the politics of three blocks will determine the political landscape of our country in the near future.

Emmanuel Dupuy, president of the Institute for Perspective and Security in Europe (IPSE), told Axar.az about the second round of parliamentary elections held in France.

Dupuy said that according to the results of the second round, the National Unity Party has achieved the greatest success:

"According to the latest results, the New People's Front, which represents the extreme leftists, won 182 seats in the parliament, and the presidential coalition "Unity for the Republic" won 163 seats. The National Unity Party, which represents the extreme right, won 143 seats. It shows that dissolution of parliament does not solve anything. Because for each of the three blocks, there is neither a clear division nor a majority possibility. What is certain is that the National Unity Party won the votes of more than 10 million out of 49 million voters. In other words, MBP increased the number of deputies from 7 to 143 in the last seven years. This clearly shows that progress is being made, but an absolute majority is not enough to form a government on its own. On the other hand, the coming together of the New People's Front, the Socialists, the Party of Environmentalists and others to block the extreme right was a very strong attack."

The expert said that no party has obtained a parliamentary majority, and the formation of the government will take some time.

"Currently, none of the blocs can nominate a candidate for the prime ministership because they cannot win an absolute majority. Although Attal resigned from the post of prime minister, President Macron did not accept it. Therefore, it is impossible to say anything about what will happen in the future and what kind of situation will develop. However, it is certain that there will be intense political discussions, deals, and proposals regarding various combinations for the formation of the government."

It should be noted that the National Assembly has 577 deputies and 289 seats are needed for an absolute majority.
