Azerbaijanis, Ukrainians create joint union

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed on the creation of a joint Union of Azerbaijanis and Ukrainians.


The MoU was signed by Yura Osadchenko, Chairman of the Ukraine-Azerbaijan Congress, and Rovshan Tagiyev, Chairman of the United Congress of Ukrainian Azerbaijanis.


Ukraine’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Alexander Mishchenko also took part in the signing ceremony.


The memorandum refers to bilateral ties entering a dynamic stage following President Petro Poroshenko’s visit to Azerbaijan and the two presidents stressing that the communities in both countries play a role in development of bilateral ties. The Union relies on contributing to deepening bilateral cooperation in all areas, joining the mission of informing the entire world of the violation of both countries’ territorial integrity. The Union main purpose has been defined as promotion of the culture, language, history, etc. in Ukraine, and vice versa.
