The mayor of Tehran, Alirza Zakani, was fired

The opponent of Masoud Pezeshkian in the presidential election in Iran, the mayor of Tehran, Alirza Zakani, was fired.

Axar.az reports that Mahdi Egrarian, a member of the Tehran City Council, said this.

"Zakani faced a harsh reaction from the people in the presidential election and does not deserve to remain in this position. His dismissal is on the agenda of the City Council, but there are still people who patronize the mayor," he said.

It should be noted that before that, a signature campaign was started with the demand for the dismissal of Alirza Zakani, and hundreds of thousands of Tehranians signed the petition.

Zakani said in the pre-election television debate that he would not allow Masoud Pezeshkian to become president.
