There was always the possibility of an assassination attempt against Haniyeh and it was expected. Axar.az reports that these words were told by the former military attaché of Turkiye in our country, Lieutenant General Yücel Karauz, who spoke about the killing of Hamas leader Ismayil Haniyeh in Tehran.

The general said that organizing the attack in Tehran is a manifestation of the weakness of the Iranian state.

"The attack exposed Iran's weakness, its inability to protect a person who came to the country for the swearing-in ceremony and who could be assassinated at any moment. Moreover, Haniyeh is the political leader of Hamas, which Iran says it always supports. In other words, Haniyeh trusted Iran and went to Tehran, but they failed to fulfill their duty and protect him. Now it is very important what the official response of Tehran will be. However, taking into account the latest attack on Lebanon and the events in Gaza, we can say that the risk of the tension caused by the latest assassination will spread to the entire Middle East. Although the attack took place in Iran, I do not think that official Tehran will respond directly to Israel. Again, they will take some steps through their proxies in the Middle East. The fire is growing in the region. It is very likely that this fire will move to Syria after Lebanon. Our state officials have expressed this many times at the highest level."

Karauz assessed Haniya's assassination as the next step leading to the Third World War:

"It is a special moment that the attack happened after Netanyahu's visit to the USA. It is impossible to organize an attack at this level without Washington's knowledge. The possibility of organizing this attack with or without warning the US is a big problem, both separately. As a result, the attack is one of the stages leading to the Third World War.
