Erdogan spoke with the Pope

A telephone conversation took place between the President of Turkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Pope Francis.

Axar.az informs that Turkish media reported on this.

During the telephone conversation, Erdogan criticized the immoral scenes shown at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris.

The Turkish leader drew attention to the fact that these steps caused anger and sharp reactions:

"Under the guise of freedom of expression and tolerance, human dignity has been trampled on, and religious and moral values have been mocked. This offended Muslims as much as Christendom. We must raise our voices together and show a common stand against them. "It is not right to challenge religious values and make propaganda at the Olympic Games, which are held to unite people."

In addition, the parties discussed the ongoing war in the Middle East and the death of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.
