It is reported that the main commemoration ceremony on the anniversary of the tragedy took place in the Peace Memorial Park in the center of Hiroshima. At 08:15 local time - on August 6, 1945, a minute's silence was announced across the country.

Hiroshima Mayor Kazumi Matsui read a peace declaration and called on the world to abandon nuclear weapons.

It should be noted that on August 6, 1945, the US "B-29" warplane dropped an 18-kiloton atomic bomb on the city of Hiroshima. As a result of the bomb explosion, more than 140 thousand people died and hundreds of thousands of city residents were injured. As a result of the atomic bomb dropping on Nagasaki, 74,000 people died.

6 days after the tragic explosions, the Japanese government surrendered unconditionally and Japanese Emperor Hirohito, who was called the "Son of the Sun", signed the treaty with American General Douglas MacArthur, which formalized the end of the Second World War.
