This spring, Russian General Colonel Aleksandr Lapin dissolved the specially created interagency council responsible for the defense of Kursk Oblast.

Axar.az informs that this information was reported by the Wall Street Journal.

The publication notes that Lapin stated at that time that only military personnel could reliably protect the country’s borders.

“As a result, on August 6, Ukrainian Armed Forces units crossed poorly prepared Russian defense lines on the Kursk Oblast border, capturing more than a thousand square kilometers of territory. According to the Ukrainian side, hundreds of Russian soldiers were taken prisoner, and several Russian settlements came under Ukrainian control,” the publication reported.
