The recommendations for Masoud Pezeshkian to meet with U.S. presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump during his trip to New York by individuals associated with the country's reformist political movement are degrading, and the president should refuse such meetings.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by Hossein Shariatmadari, the editor-in-chief of the "Kayhan" newspaper, which is linked to Ali Khamenei's office.

He recalled the U.S. killing of Qasem Soleimani, the cancellation of nuclear deal negotiations, and the lack of congratulations from official Washington on Masoud Pezeshkian's election as president.

"After all this, meeting with U.S. presidential candidates is a lowly act, and those recommending it are undermining Ibrahim Raisi's revolutionary position."

The editor-in-chief claimed that members of the reformist political movement are ready to sacrifice Iran and revolutionary values for relations with the U.S.

It is noted that there are speculations about a possible meeting between Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Donald Trump and Kamala Harris during his participation in the annual UN summit.
