Sweden, which recently joined NATO, plans to send 600 troops, eight Gripen fighter jets, and a naval vessel to Latvia for alliance operations in 2025.

Axar.az reports that the Swedish government has introduced a bill regarding Sweden's contributions to defense and NATO deterrence, which is expected to be approved by the Riksdag (Swedish Parliament) by the end of this year.

"This historic decision marks the first time that Swedish armed forces will be involved in NATO missions," stated Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard.

Currently, a battalion training at the P7 regiment in Skåne will be part of the Forward Land Forces (FLF) deployed in the region. If the security situation deteriorates, the personnel count could be increased to 1,200.
