Russia has protested to the Japanese embassy over Japan's plans to hold joint military exercises with the United States near the Russian border this fall.

Axar.az reports that this was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia.

"On October 11, the Japanese embassy in Russia was strongly protested about Tokyo's plan to conduct joint military exercises with the United States in late October - early November on Japanese territory, including the areas near the Hokkaido Islands.
