Fuel tanker accident in Nigeria killed 147 people

A fuel tanker overturned on October 16 in Nigeria's Jigawa state, spilling petrol, which ignited and killed at least 147 people.

Axar.az reports that police reported that the accident occurred after the driver lost control near Majia town, leading locals to attempt to collect the spilled fuel. This caused an explosion, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries.
Around 50 people were wounded and taken to hospitals in nearby towns. A mass burial for the victims was held the following day. Poor road conditions and previous similar incidents have contributed to deadly accidents in Nigeria.
