After Hungary steps down from the presidency of the EU Council at the end of the year and Poland takes over the role, the Union intends to tighten its sanctions policy against Russia.
Axar.az reports that this information was reported by Politico.
"Warsaw has already stated that it wants to use its six-month presidency in the EU to strengthen control over Russian fuel entering the continent. Diplomats indicate that Hungary used its presidency to effectively halt sanctions negotiations. Now, member states are hoping Poland will bring sharp issues back to the table," the report says.
