The former president of Albania was detained

The former president of Albania, Ilir Meta, was detained.

Axar.az reports that the ex-president was detained by the decision of the Special Prosecutor's Office for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime.

The prosecutor's office investigated his property. He is suspected of concealing property, corruption and laundering "dirty money".

It should be noted that I. Meta was the president of Albania in 2017-2022.
