Taiwan won't yield an inch' of its territory

Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te declared on Friday that the island won't yield an inch' of its territory as China continues to apply military pressure on Taipei to accept its sovereignty claims.

Axar.az reports that, citing France 24, Lai made these comments during a visit to the Kinmen islands, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the victory over communist forces in the Battle of Guningtou.

While not mentioning China directly, Lai emphasized that "any external forces" would not be allowed to alter the islands' future.

It should be noted that since severing high-level communications with Taipei in 2016, Beijing has intensified its military and political pressure on the self-governing island.
