US warns Iran as tensions with Israel rise at UN

Washington does not want to see tensions escalate and is in contact with both sides.

Axar.az reports that these words were said by Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the US representative in this body, at the emergency meeting of the UN Security Council.

"The United States' message to Israel remains clear: we will always help defend its people and its territory from Iran, its terrorist proxies and its partners," he said.

The US representative emphasized that our message to Iran is also clear:

"If he decides to take further aggressive steps against Israel or US personnel in the region, there will be serious consequences. We will not hesitate to take self-defense measures."

In conclusion, the members of the UN Security Council called on Israel and Iran to end the series of mutual attacks against each other.

It should be noted that the emergency meeting of the Security Council was called at the request of Iran after Israel carried out airstrikes on Iran on Saturday night.
