Pashinyan defends Syria mission, claims etrayal by allies

In 2019, we sent a group of doctors and paramedics to Syria, contrary to the opinions and demands of the West, including when they were called puppets of the West in friendly countries.

Axar.az reports that these words were said by the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, during the government hour on December 4.

"We sent a team there because our ally (meaning Russia - ed.) asked us and said they needed our help. And we responded positively to this request to show what it means to be an ally. We were the only CIS country that responded to the request of our ally. We have done this to demonstrate that we represent this very quality of relationship and that we are committed to our contractual obligations.

However, both then and now, our government is called puppets of the West. Let these people answer. The West asked me at the highest level not to send a mission, but we did and we did the right thing. Now we decided to retreat and we did.

Unfortunately, the attitude of all allies does not match the one we present. No one has the right to accuse us of anything. We fulfilled all our alliance obligations, but the alliance obligations were not fulfilled towards us, we were left alone in a difficult situation. There is such an opinion that we have been betrayed, and I have no argument to convince those who say this to the contrary," Pashinyan said.
