Hakan Fidan and Blinken discuss Syria over phone

A phone conversation took place between Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

Axar.az informs that Turkish media reported on the discussion.

The parties discussed recent developments in Syria.

Minister Fidan emphasized the importance of avoiding past mistakes in Syria and stated that the regime must act realistically, engage in dialogue with the opposition, and initiate a political process.

Fidan also stressed the need for all regional actors to play a constructive role and highlighted that terrorist organizations like PKK and ISIS must not be allowed to exploit the chaotic situation in Syria.

Additionally, the Turkish minister noted the importance of taking necessary measures to prevent the regime's chemical weapons from becoming a risk in the region.
