Moldova names Russia as the main threat

After lengthy discussions, the Moldovan Parliament has approved the National Defense Strategy for the next 10 years.

Axar.az reports that this information was shared by Newsmaker.

According to the document, Russia is identified as the main threat:

"The document states that the primary threats to Moldova's national security are events related to the Russian factor: the war in Ukraine and the risks of the conflict spreading to the neighboring Odessa region, Russia's hybrid attacks, Russian military formations in the unrecognized Transnistrian region, and military formations in unrecognized Transnistria. These threats have been identified as posing an existential threat to the country."

The strategy also proposes to increase funding for defense spending, increase the number of military bases, and improve military education to improve defense capabilities.
