Kazakhstan: Plane damaged outside airspace before crash

The plane belonging to Azerbaijan Airlines, which crashed near Aktau, was damaged outside Kazakhstan.

Axar.az reports that this was said by the Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan and the head of the government commission Kanat Bozumbayev.

"Currently, according to preliminary information, experts have concluded that the plane was damaged outside the airspace of Kazakhstan. In this regard, the operational-investigative team has appointed various types of expertise. Previously, forensic and histological examinations were prescribed. Also, a molecular genetic examination has been prescribed," Bozumbayev said.

According to him, now comprehensive forensic, forensic, ballistic, and explosive expertise has been appointed:

"In other words, when did the explosion happen and what caused the explosion? The investigation should give us clear answers. Based on the results of the expertise, we will inform Kazakhstan and the world's public. We will report all cases during the investigation by international rules and norms, and this is primarily the Chicago Convention and ICAO norms.

It should be noted that on December 25, the AZAL plane carrying out the Baku-Grozny flight was shot down by Russian air defense systems in the sky of Grozny and was seriously damaged. The plane headed for Aktau crashed near the Aktau airport because it was not allowed to land. As a result of the accident, 38 of the 67 people on board died, and 29 survived.

Russian leader Vladimir Putin called President Ilham Aliyev and apologized for the incident.
