A poisoning attempt has been made on ousted dictator Bashar al-Assad.

Axar.az reports that this information was shared by the British newspaper "The Sun."

It claims Assad, 59, asked for medical help then almost immediately began to “cough violently and choke”.

It was stated that there is every reason to believe an assassination attempt was made.

It was emphasized that Assad is being treated at home and his condition stabilized by Monday.

Tests were reported to show he had poison in his system.

It should be noted that while the British publication did not cite any official sources, there has been no reaction from Russia to this claim.
