Mike Johnson re-elected as U.S. House Speaker

Republican Mike Johnson from Louisiana has been re-elected as Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives in the first round of voting.

Axar.az reports that the 52-year-old Johnson secured the majority support (218 votes) from members of the House as soon as the 119th Congress convened on Friday.

In the first round of voting, three Republican members of the House initially supported candidates from other parties. However, following brief closed consultations, they changed their stance and ultimately backed Johnson's candidacy.
