Britain plans new sanctions to disrupt smuggling operations

The UK to introduce new sanctions targeting leaders of smuggling networks and manufacturers of boats and motors, mostly Chinese companies, involved in bringing tens of thousands of people into the country illegally every year.

Axar.az reports that the government has made this announcement.

Under huge political pressure to cut the numbers arriving in small boats from France, the government said the laws would complement other reforms.

"We will target those profiting off putting lives at risk, and disrupt the gangs' finances," interior minister Yvette Cooper said in a statement.
